Tips from a Strongman
Check out this spot every weekend to read about the buzz in the Home Team community’s publications. This week we find out how participants braved the Strongman Challenge 2011 in a HomeTeamNS article.

Finalists in the Strongman Challenge 2011 were tasked to pull not one, but two SCDF Red Rhinos over a distance of 20 metres.

The combined weight of the two vehicles is almost 8000kg.

HomeTeamNS made the event tougher this time round.

Mr Yusri Ali, the winner of the 2007 competition, explained that the secret to his victory was to “master the technique” and hone a “strong lower body, especially the calves and thighs”.

He stressed that one should also be careful not to neglect the training of their upper body as it is necessary to “keep the momentum”.

Technique is clearly integral to one’s success in the competition.

It was the expertise and experience of the five participants from Singapore’s SG Titans that helped them triumph over their more strongly-built competitors in the Sabah Strongman event in Kota Kinabalu on March 26th and 27th.
